Catalog description

The course provides the foundation of client centered approach with learning and applying the model of Motivational Interviewing. Basic interviewing, active listening skills, elements of the helping relationship, practice in conducting clinical interviews. Includes engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning. Concepts of OARS, stages of change, oral communication skills, client ambivalence, developing discrepancies, change talk, client goals, and developing a change plan.
