Catalog description

Students will gain a foundational understanding of Stick Welding (Shielded Metal Arc Welding, or SMAW) through this introductory course, featuring significant hands-on laboratory experience. Comprehensive instruction will cover welding safety protocols, the correct application of personal protective equipment, and the proficient use of various welding tools within the lab environment. Students will develop and apply critical thinking and problem-solving methodologies to execute welding tasks based on technical blueprints and verbal directives. Students will earn attainment of the AWS (American Welding Society) certification in Stick Welding (SMAW). Three classroom, three lab hours per week.
