Catalog description

Students will gain a foundational understanding of MIG/GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) and FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) through this course, featuring significant hands-on laboratory experience. Comprehensive instruction will cover welding safety protocols, the correct application of personal protective equipment, and the proficient use of various welding tools within the lab environment. Students will develop and apply critical thinking and problem-solving methodologies to execute welding tasks based on technical blueprints and verbal directives. A key component of the course is the preparation for, and attainment of, AWS (American Welding Society) certification in MIG (GMAW) and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW). Three classroom, three lab hours per week.
