Catalog description

Human Behavior and the Social Environment is a course designed to provide students with an understanding of the relationships between the environments in which individuals live and grow and their behaviors. It enables the student to explore the interrelationship of biological, psychological, social/cultural, and spiritual systems to discover how they affect human growth, development, and behavior throughout the life cycle. The variety of social systems in which people live and how these systems impact the individual's health and well-being by encouraging or deterring personal development are investigated. Course content is designed to help students integrate the various explanatory schemes, understand diversity, and consider their implications for practice in the social welfare, social work and human service fields.
