Catalog description
A study of the methodology for teaching language arts in the content areas. Special emphasis will be placed on the skills of learning to read, phonics, use of quality literature, issues of instruction for English language learners, the writing process, assessment of the language arts, inter-relationship of the language arts, and integration of the components of language arts with history/social science, mathematics, science, art and music. Students will further their understanding of the content through 15 hours of field experience in classrooms of teachers who can model instruction of language arts in the content areas. This course meets requirements for English Language Learner Instruction.
