Catalog description

This course is designed to give the graduate student a basic understanding of the fundamentals of educational measurement. The various methods of evaluation are discussed and procedures to score and report are presented. Use of descriptive statistics is covered, as well as the concepts of standards-based accountability and authentic student assessments and accompanying strategies. This course will assist graduate students in being able to use assessment information effectively and communicate it meaningfully to the appropriate citizenry. An emphasis will be placed on real-world assessment procedures and issues that are common in today's schools and classrooms.
