Catalog description

This course supports teacher candidates during student teaching or intern clinical practice by integrating key components of effective classroom instruction, professional growth, and induction readiness. Candidates develop an understanding of the characteristics and needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities, through an overview of special education legislation, procedures, instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications that support inclusive classroom environments. The course also examines current educational best practices, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), restorative practices, health and safety considerations, and culturally responsive teaching. In addition, candidates receive support in preparing for and reflecting on CalTPA Cycle 1 and Cycle 2 assessments while identifying areas of professional growth to inform their future induction plans and continued development as reflective practitioners.
