Catalog description
This course provides the teacher candidate with the opportunity to learn the art and science of teaching. Candidates design lessons and a unit of study based upon the California Department of Education's frameworks and academic content standards. Areas of study include planning, teaching strategies, adaptations, and assessment. Focus areas of study will include math, science, history, physical education, and visual and performing arts. Students in this class will analyze methods of instruction and behavior management strategies used by teachers in the field. Attention will be given to developing effecive strategies for teaching students with diverse needs. 15 observational hours in a school setting required.
