Catalog description
The first half of a two-semester sequence, intended for the biology major, covering the nature of atoms, molecules, and ions, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, electronic structure, periodicity, and chemical bonding. This course also provides an introduction to thermodynamics, equilibrium, precipitation, oxidation-reduction, and acid/base chemistry. Three hours of lecture and three hours of lab per week. Registration for this course restricted to declared biology majors, or by consent of instructor. Note: There is a lab fee for this course. Corequisite: CHEM-1510L Lab
