The course examines the aspects of inorganic, organic and biochemistry pertinent to the health sciences. The fundamentals of the metric system, chemical nomenclature, atomic and molecular structure, chemical reactions, states of matter, solutions, and organic funtional groups are presented. The quantitative nature of chemistry is developed and the important families of organic molecules and biochemical pathways are introduced. This course is intended for pre-nursing majors and cannot be used to fulfill requirements for the biology major. Three hours of lecture and three hours of lab per week. Note: There is a lab fee for this course.
