This course explores the structure, history, and aesthetics of music in film. In the first weeks, we will discuss the different concepts and approaches used to analyze film music. Then, the course will concentrate on the various historical, artistic and production perspectives. We will watch clips from silent films to the most current and discuss how music functions within films throughout history.
