Catalog description

This course examines the history of the United States from the presidency of Richard Nixon through the election of Barack Obama in 2008. Topics include the evolution and end of the Cold War and the subsequent redefinition of the United States’ role in international affairs; economic changes and their impact on American society; the persistence of issues of race and ethnicity; changes in the role of women and gender relations; changing popular culture; and political behavior and the increasing divisiveness of politics in American society. Corequisite(s): HIST 105 or HONR 122 and sophomore standing, or permission of the instructor.
