Catalog description
This writing-intensive course engages students in reading, research, and analysis of a selected literary genre. Particular attention will be given to the politics, theories, and contexts of literary form. Specific topic will vary by instructor and may include: the sonnet, historical fiction, or realist drama. Students can expect to read and write theoretically on the chosen genre, conduct research on relevant cultural and historical matters, and present their advanced, independent work in frequent written analyses, sustained analytic papers, and other forms or presentations that reflect professional or graduate-level understanding and communication skills. Graduate Credit: This course is not available for graduate credit.
