Catalog description

This course introduces the student to the types of computer information systems used in the health care industry. The emphasis is on the purpose, functionality, and strategic use of various systems. Relevant topics include electronic patient medical records, outcomes management, and use of mobile technology in healthcare practice. Both practitioner and administrator perspectives will be examined. Additional areas covered include regulation, technology standards, security, and management challenges.
