MCOM 215 This course provides an introduction to motion pictures as an artistic and cultural form, as well as film’s relationship to other popular media. The course content explores movies’ narrative conventions; the stylistic conventions of lighting, cinematography, sound and editing; and how they communicate to mass audiences in popular genres like the Western, science fiction, the musical, women’s films, and film noir.
