Catalog description

This course analyzes sport and exercise from a sociological perspective and examines who competes/participates and the consequences of such competition/participation. A major emphasis is placed on the sociological phenomena and institutions that intersect with sport and physical activity in the United States, but some attention is also given globally. In-depth discussion of the apparent positive and negative consequences of the way sport is organized in society will occur.
