Catalog description

This course presents an approach to environmental sustainability through alternative energies (i.e. geothermal, solar, hydroelectric, nuclear, biomass and wind power) and integrated waste management practices (zero-waste, producer responsibility and life cycle assessment) to create a sustainable future. These topics are addressed from a scientific, technical, economic and environmental perspective, with an emphasis on beneficial reduction, reuse and resource recovery practices. The topics are addressed though discussion, field trips and student developed projects. Service and community learning projects are large component of this hands-on course. Field trips are required.
