Catalog description
This course is a study of the development of Western theatrical dance, and how history and cultural trends have shaped it. Philosophical theories of dance as a performing art and the writings of contemporary critics are examined and discussed. Emphasis is placed on the development of an individual aesthetic base and developed through exposure to a wide variety of recorded resources. Independent reading, writing and research assignments develop comprehension, technology and oral/written communication skills.
