Trial Advocacy II

Catalog description

This course develops and applies trial advocacy skills for use in legal as well as other arenas of discourse, debate and procedural problem-solving through the study, application and advanced development of courtroom skills. This course builds on the introduction to trial advocacy skills in Trial Advocacy I through a focus on the development and usage of argument centered narratives and the use of narrative in formulating and implementing procedural and presentations strategies in an adversarial context. Students will further develop skills in formulating, presenting and critiquing legal arguments by exploring the sources of law, the theory behind the adversarial system and the various procedural and evidentiary rules in place to achieve the system’s goals.
