Catalog description
A survey of the evolution of plant forms, life cycles and functions from algae to angiosperms. The relationships between adaptive strategies - such as those for reproduction and dissemination - and the structures that pertain to those strategies will also be examined. Many class exercises will integrate morphology with other biological disciplines including taxonomy, evolution, genetics and ecology. In the laboratory and field, students will examine plant features useful in identification and classification. Three lecture hours plus three laboratory hours per week.
