Catalog description

The fundamental principles of the importance of microorganisms are presented in the course. Topics of course discussions will include the historical importance of microbiology, systematics, microbial metabolism, microbial genetics, biotechnology, pathogenesis, antimicrobial epidemiology and immunology. In addition to traditional learning tools, students will use a variety of multimedia and Internet-based technologies for classroom and laboratory learning experiences. The laboratory will introduce students to the basic techniques for growth and identification of microorganisms. Three lecture hours plus three laboratory hours per week.
