Intro to Drawing and Painting

Catalog description

This course emphasizes developing foundational drawing and painting skills using a variety of media. Students will compare, contrast and experiment with different mark-making materials, such as graphite, charcoal, watercolors, acrylics and oils. Students will explore visual relationships, apply linear perspective, organize two-dimensional compositions and begin to understand how to manipulate form, light, color and space. Students will work from direct observation of still life compositions, interior spaces, figurative models, and landscapes.
