Catalog description

This course will explore the theory and research regarding the psychological aspects of sport and physical activity, providing a competitive edge, while learning necessary components, such as managing stress, controlling concentration, improving confidence, increasing communication, and promotion of team harmony. Topics addressed include history of sport psychology, motor skills learning, performance enhancement, an engaging climate, coaching effectiveness, effective communication, goal setting, stress management, imagery, building confidence, controlling concentration, mindfulness, diversity competence, doping, burnout, overcoming injury, transitioning to career, motivation, leadership, and group dynamics. Application of these topics and principles are best suited for athletes, teachers, coaches, sports medicine practitioners, counselors. and administrators.
