Catalog description

This course is designed to provide students with a general introduction to the field of education. The purpose of this course is to provide students with a broad knowledge base concerning public education, including a variety of perspectives on historical, philosophical, social, legal, and ethical issues in a diverse society. A study of organizational structure and school governance is included. This course includes limited experiences in the public schools through an integrated clinical component of 15 clock hours, minimum. Per the requirements of local school districts, students may be asked to complete a criminal background check prior to their field experience.
