Catalog description

This course is designed to provide the student with greater depth and broader perspective of the delivering nursing care to the expanding family. The nursing process will be utilized to provide nursing care to meet the physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum woman as well as to newborn and pediatric patients. A basic understanding of normal reproductive function and the birth process will be necessary in order to study the nursing care of pathophysiological conditions. Emphasis is placed upon health promotion, family involvement and cultural needs of the child bearing family and the hospitalized child and/or adolescent. Combined with ADN 225 Nursing Care of Mother and Child Clinical, learning opportunities include both theory content and clinical experience.
