Catalog description

This course is one of the required courses for the Associate Degree Nursing program at Shasta College and one of two corequisite courses that comprise the second semester. The student will begin to build the foundation of Medical-Surgical Nursing. Concepts of family, community, health promotion, illness prevention, teaching, cultural sensitivity, nursing process, and critical thinking are promoted. The emphasis of the course is on adult and geriatric medical-surgical clients with acute and/or chronic illness in the inpatient and outpatient setting. This course may be offered in a distance education format.
