Catalog description

Advisory: PSYC C1000; Essay-writing skills and eligibility to enroll in a transfer-level English Composition course. <br> <br> This course is an introduction to cultural influences on human behavior, emotions, and patterns of thinking. Topics span a range of issues such as life-span development, abnormal behavior and mental health, drug use, self-concept, emotions, gender expectations and gender roles, social behavior, perception, learning, intelligence, and psychotherapy. By providing students with an understanding of cultural relativism, this course will encourage them to interact with tolerance and/or appreciation in a world with increasing contact among different cultures. This course may be offered in a distance education format.
