Limitation on Enrollment: Valid and current EMT Basic or higher certification/card and <br> Limitation on Enrollment: A valid CPAT card within the last 12 months and <br> Limitation on Enrollment: Submit proof of a drug screening through a Shasta College approved vendor within the last 3 months. Shasta College personnel must review and approve test results prior to registering for FIRS 398. <br> Limitation on Enrollment: ICS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System and <br> Limitation on Enrollment: ICS-200: Incident Command System for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents and <br> Limitation on Enrollment: IS-700: Introduction to the National Incident Management System and <br> Limitation on Enrollment: IS-800: National Response Framework - An Introduction and <br> Limitation on Enrollment: Pipeline Emergency Training (First Responders - Operations) and <br> Limitation on Enrollment: Medical Exam for Fire Fighters (Get form at Fire Program office) and <br> Limitation on Enrollment: Respiratory Review Questionnaire (Cal-OSHA requirement) and <br> Note 1: Fire Academy pre-registration checklist may be picked up at the Fire Technology office. <br> Note 2: Students wishing to attend the Fire Academy (FIRS 104) will need to have attended the FIRS 398 class immediately preceding the Fire Academy to ensure they have all required materials and uniforms on the first day of the Fire Academy. <br> Note 3: Students may take FAID 75 or FAID 375 in preparation for the National Registry of EMT's Exam, but students must hold the valid and current EMT Basic or higher certification/card prior to registering for FIRS 398. <br> Note 4: Students will need to have completed FIRS 70 and FIRS 79 prior to the start of the Fire Academy or show proof of equivalency for both classes prior to attending FIRS 398 (Fire Academy Orientation). <br> <br> This course informs individuals for successful participation in the Firefighter 1 Academy and for future employment as a firefighter. The requirements and expectations of the Firefighter 1 Academy will be fully covered so that those going forward as candidates will be prepared for the Academy's rigor and high performance expectations. Instruction will include such topics as enrollment requirements and prerequisites; uniforms, equipment, and materials; academic preparation; attendance and grading policies; certification requirements; standards of behavior and conduct; physical fitness standards; employment preparation and opportunities; career orientation and occupational requirements; and the processes for initial employment and career advancement. This course may be offered in a distance education format.
