This course will explore historical developments, origins, philosophy, current trends, and activities in criminal street gangs withinCalifornia; explore areas of violence, recruitment, drug use, graffiti, and attire; and place emphasis on organization within gangs andracial backgrounds including types of solutions used in the criminal justice system to combat street gangs. This course may be offeredin a distance education format.
