Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) was one of the most important philosophers of this century, whose thought has had an undeniable influence on our culture in general. This course will explore Heidegger’s influence on contemporary theology. We will begin by situating the philosopher in his historical and philosophical context. Then, we will analyze the key concepts of his philosophy. Finally, we will examine different ways in which Heidegger impacted the current theological thought by looking at his admirers and critics among theologians.
