Anthropology of Disability

Catalog description

This course considers disability through perspectives of the four subfields of anthropology (archaeology, biological and cultural anthropology, and linguistics). Through lecture as well as discussion of readings and other media, the course covers topics such as major theoretical, historical, and ethical concepts; disability in the archaeological record; disability across the life course; cross-cultural understandings of disability; and intersections with race, gender, and socioeconomic status.
