Modern Ireland

Catalog description

This course examines the political, cultural, economic, social, and religious history of Ireland from the act of Union (1800) to the present day. In particular, it seeks to explain the competing Irish identities that have shaped the troubled history of the country in the last two centuries. Seton Hall’s rich archival resources in Irish history—in particular the world-famous MacManus Collection—will be used to supplement the work of the classroom.
