History of Africa I

Catalog description

This course offers a broad survey of the history of African continent from the earliest human communities up to the present. It focuses on the evolution of African societies and cultures and a variety of global historical developments that shaped them. The course makes a point of connecting the history of Africa and its peoples to some the major events in global history that both impacted Africa and sometimes originated there.
