GMHS 9507 is used on a need basis, to fill a gap the faculty has observed with some doctoral students’ ability to effectively complete the deliverables set for the three program dissertation courses within the semester timeframe allocated ( GMHS 9504 , 9505 , 9506 ). Students can choose to complete the outstanding dissertation deliverables without faculty additional support students and sign up for Doctoral Thesis Continuation THCN8999AA – (CRN#) or Doctoral Thesis Continuation THCN9000AA – (CRN#) which enables students to maintain an active registered status until the deliverables are completed. However, if students are seeking faculty mentorship to successfully meet the deliverables beyond the 4-credit allocation, students then will be required to sign up for GMHS 9507 for 2 credits until the deliverables have been received. Students who do not complete the required deliverables for Dissertation 1, 11, or the Advisement course as outlined in the course syllabus are required to sign up for GMHS 9507 DEA if they would like to receive faculty mentorship until the deliverables have been accepted by the course instructor (dissertation chair). The deliverables for DEA course are based upon outstanding deliverables from dissertation 1, 11, or advisement coursework, with due dates being determined between the student and faculty mentor. IMPORTANT: DEA course requires independent student learning, with minimal instructor input, at the initiation of the course to develop and agree to the study plan, mid-way to assess progress and, at the end of the course to critique the final deliverables. The deliverables coincide with the remaining deliverables the student did not complete in the associated Dissertation course but in the individualized study plan the faculty will employ a flipped learning scaffolded approach to promote individualized progress.
