Catalog description

Problem oriented approach to examining the most commonly used pharmacologic agents seen in Athletic Training practice. Basic principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics, along with pertinent physiology are presented. Practical aspects of dosing schedules, therapeutic effects, interactions and adverse reactions emphasized, especially as they apply to physical performance and safety. Clinical decision making will be practiced throughout the course to develop appropriate strategies to educate the patient on the use of medications and performance-enhancing substances.
