Catalog description

This course is the second in a three-course sequence in teaching language arts and literacy to upper elementary school students – grades 3-6, with a heavy focus on using literacy to learn content, comprehension, and writing. A focus will be on connecting literacy to everyday life and children’s culture, community, and experiences. Throughout the course, candidates will learn how to meet the needs of all children while exploring how to integrate culturally relevant practices into language arts and literacy discussions, environment, lessons, and assessments.
