Catalog description

The course will begin with a close reading of Homer’s Odyssey, focusing on the character of Odysseus and moral questions raised by the trickster figure. We will then examine the literary tradition inspired by the Odyssey, including adaptations made by classical, Christian and modern authors, such as Sophocles, Vergil, Dante, James Joyce, and Margaret Atwood.
