Catalog description

This course offers a comprehensive overview of the history and evolution of public relations practice by integrating persuasion theories from the broader field of mass communication. It introduces students to emerging theories in public relations that provide insights into audience predispositions, motivations, and the ways media messages shape individual cognitions, attitudes, and behaviors. Additionally, the course examines how media affordances and opportunities for interaction continuously (re)shape societal structures and communication dynamics. Students will develop the ability to apply these theoretical frameworks to enhance the effectiveness and ethical impact of public relations practice.
