Catalog description

This course introduces students to the workings of the American film, television, and streaming industries, with particular attention paid to how these entertainment industries are structured. In the process of studying the film, television, and streaming industries, students will become familiar with the major organizations involved in these industries (labor unions, media conglomerates, regulatory bodies, etc.) and the relationships between them. A primary concern will be illustrating how the critical analysis of large-scale, structural dynamics can help one better understand the role of the film, television, and streaming industries within American culture and society.
