Catalog description

This 3-credit course introduces students to the methods, theories, and common core questions of public opinion research with a specific lens towards the business, ethics and culture of sport. The course begins with an overview of the statistical and survey methods used to collect and analyze public opinion data. This course will teach students how to design, conduct, and analyze surveys, as well as to communicate the results of surveys to a broad audience. Students will also learn how to be critical consumers of information derived from surveys. To gain practical experience, students in the course will use previously collected Seton Hall Sports Poll data to create an original report from Poll findings. Students will also participate in the creation of new Seton Hall Sports Poll data collection efforts.
