Catalog description

This course continues work begun in Advanced Arabic I working through the third volume of al-ktaab focusing on lessons 5 to 10, emphasizing contextually appropriate and accurate use of Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). This advanced level further develops reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through oral/aural practice, including interactions with native speakers and extensive use of media and other materials produced in Arabic. The course is technologically enhanced. The course focuses on developing active control of a large vocabulary through communicative activities, training in composition, and oral expression. Grammatical work focuses on complex constructions and demands increased accuracy in understanding and producing complex structures in extended discourse. Additional materials and texts provide cultural supplement and introduce short literary and analytical texts.
