Chicana/Latina Feminism in Contemporary Society 3 unit

Catalog description

This course provides students with a foundational understanding of Chicana/Latina history, contemporary experiences, and treatment in modern society. Using feminist historical documentation, theory, and community activism, students will examine the struggles, advocacy, and resiliency of past and present Chicana/Latina issues. Through an intersectional lens, students will critically analyze gender, sexuality, class, race, immigration, and language and their relation to patriarchy, sexism, racism, white supremacy, and colonization. Through the course interaction and curriculum, students will understand the role of resistance, agency, self-determination, anti-racism, and decolonization.
