Catalog description

This course offers students a survey of the historical counseling theories and practices. Each theoretical model is evaluated through the lens of psychodynamic methodology and its efficacy in working with diverse populations and settings. Students will increase their awareness of the lineage that precedes the “birth” of Western psychology, and examine spiritual, relational, and community practices that offer an alternative to Western psychology. This course is associated with the Fall term residency.
