(Prerequisites: ENLT 140 or equivalent or THTR 110 ) This course surveys the emergence of naturalism and the developments of drama in the European continent at the end of the 19th century into the mid-twentieth century. The works studied illustrate various attempts to recreate realities on stage and explore how philosophy influenced theatrical expression. (All readings in English.) Alternate Years
