The purpose of this course is to engage in a critical examination of a recent movement in philosophy known as “naturalism.” Naturalism appeals to the natural sciences to reject non-natural or transcendent entities such as God. Readings include works by contemporary naturalists, but then also those, such as Alvin Plantinga, who reject naturalism on philosophical grounds. Offered alternate years.
