Catalog description

An introductory course in statistics intended for students from a variety of disciplines. Topics include descriptive statistics (graphical and numerical); basic concepts of probability; random variables and probability distributions; sampling distributions and the central limit theorem; inferential statistics including confidence intervals and hypothesis testing for means and proportions; correlation and linear regression. Use of a statistical software package may be included. Not open to students who have credit for or are enrolled in an equivalent statistics course.
