Enrollment Limitation: Retention based on successful audition. Rehearsal and performance of music in the Latin jazz idiom. A conjunto (smaller band) typically consisting of 3-4 horns, rhythm section, timbales, congas, bongos, hand percussionists, and optional vocalist. Recommended for students interested in performing in a Latin jazz ensemble. Required instructional trips. Maximum credit 8 units, 2 units each semester. Maximum of 4 enrollments in the Jazz Ensemble Family: MUSC 056, 057B, 057D, 057E, 057F, 133D. Total of 18 hours lecture, 36 hours laboratory, and 18 hours TBA laboratory.
