This work experience course of supervised employment is designed to facilitate medical assistants to acquire desirable work habits, attitudes and skills of a competent allied healthcare worker. This course also provides students with career awareness, opportunities to practice professionalism and integrate classroom learning and clinical practice in ambulatory medical clinics. Fifty-four hours of work equals one-unit of course credit. Student repetition is allowed per Title 5, Section 55253. MA001 may earn four units each semester and a maximum of fourteen units of college credit for work experience.
