This course introduces students to the fundamental skills of Consecutive Interpreting focusing on the legal requirements of this mode of interpretation in legal, healthcare, and other community settings. The course emphasizes note taking techniques and strategies to acquire these skills, memory building skills and development, and understanding the role of the interpreter. Essential skills for Consecutive Interpreting as well as challenges faced in Consecutive Interpreting are also discussed. Field trips may be required.
