This introductory engineering mechanics course is essential for students majoring in mechanical engineering or civil engineering, as it lays the foundation for most upper-division coursework. The course covers fundamental concepts, including the properties of forces, moments, couples, as well as the analysis of two- and three-dimensional force systems on engineering structures in equilibrium. It explores topics such as truss and beam analysis, distributed forces, shear and bending moment diagrams, center of gravity, centroids, friction, and area and mass moments of inertia.
